Ridgeway’s first grade artists researched the attributes of a monster by reading books such as Maurice Sendak’s-”Seven Little Monsters” , “Monster Count” by Faulkner Clegg-Smith and “Go Away Big Green Monster” by Ed Emberly. They continued their research by discussing different movies they had seen. Then first graders designed their own monster.
The designs were then sent to Meghan Bell’s ceramic students at Hamilton High, who brought them to life! What a fun project. Ridgeway is all a buzz about the display. It has sparked ideas in other areas for collaborative projects. ^5 Mrs. Bell for the great idea!
