Robert McCloskey was a world famous children’s book author and illustrator.  Some of his works include  Make Way for Ducklings, Blueberries for Sal, Homer Price, and Lentil (a book based on his hometown of Hamilton, Ohio!).  Hamilton is celebrating his 100th birthday this year and all third grade students received a Lentil book, courtesy of the Lane Library and the Michael Colligan Project.

The students created their own book cover for the book and the four top winners were:  Chelsea Goodman from Ridgeway; Ellie Cochrane from Highland; Ethan Morris from Bridgeport; and Alexandrea Chambers from Fairwood.  They were recognized at a Board of Education meeting.  They are pictured with Mrs. Nancy Follmer, a member of the Robert McCloskey committee.

Look for them on the Robert McCloskey float at the 4th of July parade!
