The Big Blue Marching Band qualified for the OMEA (Ohio Music Educators Association) State Marching Band Contest with a Superior performance on Saturday, October 18 at Canal Winchester High School.  They will perform their show, Cognizance at Dayton’s Welcome Stadium on Sunday, November 2 at 1:45 p.m.  Admittance is $7.00 for Adults and $5.00 for seniors and school-aged children.  Children under 5 are free.  Tickets may be purchased at the gate. Parking is $5.00 a car.  Commemorative T-shirts will be sold at the site.

Last year, the band achieved State Finals for the first time in six years.  Salem Arvin, flutist and Joshua Schanie, trombonist are featured soloists for the show.  They both agreed that they were very happy to earn the Superior rating.  “We’ve been working on this so hard for so long. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays have been my life for band for the past 3 years,” said Schanie.

The band is directed by Mr. Paul Dixon.  Assistant directors are Mr. Patrick Naylor and Miss Rachel Harney. Mr. Robert Saurber is the percussion director. Color Guard directors are Nick Bellmyer and Miss Tori Angel.
