City-Wide Strings Festival to Celebrate “100 Years of Strings Education in Hamilton City Schools”

The strings students of Hamilton City Schools will combine to present a City-Wide String Festival at the HHS Gym on Tuesday, February 10 at 7:00.  Students in grades 5-12 from all schools will perform a variety of music under the direction of strings teachers Sarah Blumberg, Donzel Burkhart, Pamela Carroll, and Matthew Kirkendall. Admission is free.

2015 marks the 100th year of strings education in Hamilton schools.  Mr. William Lebo was the first orchestra teacher in 1915 starting with just 15 students.  Since that time Hamilton City Schools have had nearly 40 strings teachers and too many strings students to count. A few of the more recent long-time teachers of string instruments Mike Wallick (1976-2007), Bob Borden (1979-2014), Laurin Sprague (1984-1996) and James Ledbetter ( 2008-2014), along with several others are expected to be in attendance at the concert.

Come see and hear how we’ve grown!
