The Big Blue Marching Band, under the direction of Mr. Paul Dixon, earned a rating of “Excellent” at the Ohio Music Educators Association’s State Competition held at the University of Dayton’s Welcome Stadium on November 8. The band performed their competition show “Kingdom” which tells the story of a typical day in the kingdom.  The show features music from the classical repertoire. Bands must earn the privilege to compete in the state contest by receiving a “Superior” rating at a regional contest. This was Hamilton’s 3rd straight State appearance.

Assistant directors are Mr. Jacob Gibson, Miss Rachel Harney, Mr. Pat Naylor, and Mr. Bob Saurber. The color guard directors are Miss Tori Angel and Miss Maria DeSantiago.

The band’s final competition will take place at 4:00 pm Thursday, November 12, as they travel to Indianapolis for the Bands of America  Grand National Championships. (Photo credit: Terri Millard)
