If so, have we got the summer camp for them!

Hamilton Acting and Music School, better known as HAMS, is now registering campers for another exciting summer of musical theatre. HAMS is open to students enrolled in the Hamilton City Schools District who have completed grades 2nd through 5th (as of this summer), and who are looking for a nurturing and positive environment in which they can learn more about music, theatre, dance, performance, and musicals.

  • Camp: 9:00-11:30 June 1st– July 7th, 2016 at Hamilton High School
  • Performance of “Rats: The Story of the Pied Piper”: July 8 and July 9, 2016 at Hamilton High School.
  • Cost: $50.00 per camper if paid in full by May 26th (The last day of school)
    • After May 26th, the cost is $60.00.

H.A.M.S. (Hamilton Acting and Music School) Camp

Eligibility: Any Hamilton City School student who was in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th during the ‘15-’16 school year

Times/Places:

-Camp/Rehearsals: 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. every weekday June 1st through July 7th.

-At Hamilton High School. Park in front lot.  Campers will enter and exit through doors under the large silver letters that spell AUDITORIUM.

-No camp July 4th. We will be performing at the 4th of July celebration in downtown Hamilton. (details TBA)

-Open Dress rehearsal Thursday, July 7th, 7:00 p.m., at Hamilton High School

(campers must report by 5:30 p.m., run thru of the show will begin at 7:00 p.m.)

-Performances: “Rats” (audience tickets will be $5.00 each) at Hamilton High School Friday, July 8th @ 7:00 p.m. & Saturday, July 9th @ 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. (Performers should be prepared to stay between performances.  We will order pizza, play games, and reflect on our experience)

Cost: $50.00 per camper if you pre-register and pay in full by May 26th. $60.00 per camper if you register after May 26th. This covers a camp t-shirt, music, scripts, materials, costumes, and props.  Payment may be cash or checks made out to “Hamilton Performing Arts Association”.

Attendance: Since we are working towards a final product of a finished show, regular attendance is a must. Any camper with more than 2 unexcused absences will be dismissed from the camp without a refund. We realize that families take vacations in the summer and we don’t require that you alter your vacation plans.  We do, however, require advanced notice of any absence for vacation purposes (these will be excused absences and your child will not be penalized).

Attendance July 5-7 is mandatory. Due to necessary final changes, absent campers during the final week may find that they have been cut from a scene or song.

All campers must be dropped off and picked up on time.

What to wear: comfortable clothes for sitting on the floor, moving, etc. For safety reasons, your child must wear gym shoes – absolutely no flip flops, sandals, heels, open-toed shoes, etc.

What to Bring: Campers should bring their script and a water bottle (NO SWEET DRINKS! Water only, please!)

NOTE: We plan for a 10 minute snack break each day. We will provide the snack. Due to time constraints, there may be occasions that we will not have time for a snack, so we suggest a hearty breakfast before coming to camp.

What to Expect:

  • Week 1: introductions, auditions*, and casting.
  • Weeks 2-5: rehearsals and lessons.
  • Week 6: run thrus and getting ready for the performances!
    *All campers will be in the show. Auditions are to assign specific roles.
