GRADUATE SPOTLIGHT – GRETCHEN WALLISCH, HHS Class of 2003,  graduate from Ohio University in 2007.   She has pursued a variety of personal and professional interests such as teaching English as a foreign language, domestic volunteerism, and international development. After teaching English at a school for girls in Amman, Jordan, Gretchen returned to Ohio to serve as an AmeriCorps Volunteer.

During her time with AmeriCorps, she worked as a Youth Mentor for young people in foster care and also volunteered internationally for the United Nations World Food Program. With this experience, she moved to Washington, DC, where she currently works for a government contractor in the field of international development. Gretchen has spent time working on food security issues in Peru and Nicaragua, regional trade policy and grants management in Botswana, economic development in Armenia, peace building in Sudan and South Sudan, and wildlife protection in Philippines. Gretchen’s interests include travel, running, and spending time outdoors and with her family.
