Fine Arts Update: February 21, 2017

Our Fine Arts Department had a very busy and successful weekend.

On Friday, the Hamilton High School Symphony Orchestra participated in the OMEA State Orchestra Contest in Kettering Ohio receiving an “Excellent” Rating.

On Saturday, the Hamilton Winter Guard competed in the WGI Regional Competition finishing 2nd in the Scholastic Regional A Division.

The Hamilton High Show Choir, Rhapsody in Blue hosted the Double H Showcase, show choir competition at Hamilton High School.  The 2-day event brought in 19 show choirs from local districts, as well as some who traveled nearly 3 hours.  The Hamilton show choirs, Cutting Edge and Rhapsody in Blue, performed as exhibition only. Congratulations to the Grand Champions, Red Hot from Hurricane High School, WV.  Ross High School’s Rhythm in Motion took home the 2nd place trophy.

 

Coming Up

  • Thursday, February 23:  our annual S to the Third (Singing, Swinging, and Stringing) in the Hamilton High Rotary Auditorium at 7:00 pm. This concert features Rhapsody in Blue, HHS Jazz Band,  and Live Wire!  Our special guests this year are The Cincy Brass.  Tickets are $12.  Discount packages are available online.  Click here to order tickets.  Tickets will also be available at the door.
  •  Thursday, February 23:  the Brookwood 4th Graders will present a musical program at 6:30 pm at Brookwood Elementary School.
  • Our show choirs will be back in action this weekend at Loveland High School’s Showfest Competition.
    • Friday, Feb. 24: Cutting Edge performs on  at 7:00 pm
    • Saturday, Feb. 25: Rhapsody In Blue performs on at 3:15 pm.
  • Tuesday, February 28: City-Wide Elementary Band Concert
    • Concert 1 at 6:15 pm (Ridgeway, Crawford Woods, Linden, Fairwood)Concert 2  at 7:30 pm (Bridgeport, Brookwood, Riverview, Highland)
  • Tuesday February 28: Wilson Middle School Choir Concert 7:00 pm at Hamilton High Rotary Auditorium
