Hamilton City Schools Welcomes New Band Instructor

As we bid a fond farewell to longtime band instructor, Ms. Shannon Stephens, we welcome our newest staff member, Mr. Scottie Moore to the band staff. Mr. Moore holds a Bachelor of Music in education from Miami University, and a Master of Music with performance and conducting emphasis from the University of Tennessee. Prior to joining the Hamilton City School District, Mr. Moore taught in the Piqua City School District, Greenville City School District, and Sidney City School District. Mr. Moore and his wife have 3 young children.  We are excited to have Mr. Moore join our awesome band staff.

Artwork at the Board of Education

A sample of work by Hamilton Freshman School artists is currently on display at the Board of Education building. Art teacher, Ms. Stephanie Fickert, was pleased with the results, saying, “These students were awesome at showing lines and shapes in interesting ways.”

Zentangles are miniature pieces of unplanned, abstract, black and white art created through a very specific method from an ensemble of simple, structured patterns called tangles.  Zentangles are not only exquisitely beautiful, they are fun and relaxing to create.

The process of creating a Zentangle is a form of “artistic meditation” as one becomes completely engrossed in making each pattern, deliberately focusing on one stroke at a time. The creativity options and pattern combinations are boundless.

Fine Arts on the Internet

Many of our Fine Arts teachers maintain websites, Facebook pages, and Twitter accounts in order to share information, student work, and to provide a glimpse into our students’ days at school. Here is the information to those that are public. Check them out and you will be amazed at what our students are doing on a daily basis in their fine arts classes.
