GRADUATE SPOTLIGHT: Rachael Huber Ross, HHS class of 2007, received her PhD from Clemson University. Her doctorate is from the College of Education, Doctor of Philosophy, Literacy, Language, and Culture. She received her B.S. degree in Early Childhood from Lee University and her M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction from Louisiana State University.
Rachael is currently serving as the Reading & Math Specialist for KIPP Memphis Collegiate Schools in Memphis, TN. She oversees the RTI program in the elementary school, providing services to students who scored in the 10th percentile and below in reading and math. While she enjoys the hands on work she does with students everyday, Rachael aspires to work at the university level, teaching future teachers how to teach children to read. Her passion is early literacy development and she plans to continue her research on teachers’ read-aloud practices and their use of children’s literature.
