Hamilton High Drama Club Presents Final Show of the Year

Hamilton High Drama Club, Big Blue Company presented “And a Child Shall Lead” this past weekend. The play, written by Michael Slade, tells the true story of children in a Jewish city established by the Nazis near Prague as a way station before the death camps. The cast did an excellent job with a difficult subject. This play marked the final high school production of seniors Katie Clark, Brandon Glomb, Reilly Johnson, Mark Lunsford, and Alyssa Simpson, and Katyn Stellmach.

Fairwood Fine Arts in Spotlight at Board of Education Meeting

Art teacher, Mrs. Diana Fazio and music teacher, Mrs. Sarah Starks shared the AMPed (Art, Music, Physical education) approach to teaching their subjects at last week’s School Board Meeting as part of the District Highlight on Fairwood Elementary School. They, along with Physical Education teacher Miss Katie Schoeder, have created an innovative collaborative system of teaching their own subjects with a joint quarterly focus.This year students learned art, music, and physical education with a focus on United States of America, Italy, Japan, and India.



Middle School Students Earn High Ratings in Solo and Ensemble Contest

Seventeen Garfield Band students performed at the OMEA Solo and Ensemble Contest, earning an “Excellent” rating this weekend.  Hannah Metcalf, Arianna McCoy, Megan Delafuente, Nia Lair, Aiden Sloderbeck, Leslie Jimenez, Jasmine Kendel, Monserrat Estrada, Andrea Godoy, Maria Pool Davalos,  Jacob Force, Josh Snyder, Zabdi Sanchez Menchu, Parker Shull, Thalia Moore, Savannah Meyer, and Hailey Miller.

Four Garfield Middle School 7th grade Orchestra students performed solos at the OMEA District 13 Solo/Ensemble contest this past Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Clinton-Massie High School.  Hannah Lewis received a Superior rating, and Carson Cashdollar, Morgan Caudill and Anna Nicol received Excellent ratings.  Congratulations to these talented students!

Former Hamilton High Band Member Accepted to The Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps

Hamilton High graduate and current Miami University music major,  Josh Schanie has been accepted via audition to The Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps.  He was one of 88 who were accepted of the over 450 who auditioned. The group competes all over the country in the Drum Corp International, DCI circuit Congratulations, Josh!
