The Hamilton City School District places an emphasis on safety and security with every aspect of our school environment. This includes transparent communication with parents which involve issues of school safety.
We want to inform you of an incident that happened today at Wilson Middle School.
A student informed a staff member there was the possibility that another student brought a gun to school. School officials and a School Resource Officer immediately investigated the incident and a gun was found in a student locker.
The investigation is ongoing, but it is clear at this point no individual was in danger and the student in question, including the weapon have been taken into custody with the HPD.
We commend the student who notified the Wilson staff about the possible threat and encourage you to continue to stress the importance of students reporting anything they perceive as a threat.
We will continue to work with the Hamilton Police Department to protect our children, both during school and throughout the community.
Thank you for your continued support and trust as we all work together in keeping our children safe.
