Gifted Identification Information
Hamilton City School District (HCSD) will be screening ALL students in grades 1 and 6 for gifted services for Superior Cognitive Ability, Reading, and Math. Sixth-grade students will be assessed from October 23 – 27, 2017, and first-grade students will be assessed from January 15 – 19, 2018.
Additionally, HCSD holds Fall and Spring gifted identification screenings for students referred by their parents, teachers, and/or building administrators. The Fall screening period will take place from October 9 – October 20, 2017, and in the Spring, we will screen students from February 26-March 9, 2018. Teachers and parents are encouraged to refer students using the Gifted Identification Form. If you would like to refer your child for gifted identification testing, please select the link below, fill out both pages of the form and return it to the Gifted Coordinator by mail, email, or through your child’s teacher. If a referral form is received after the deadline, the student will be tested during next semester’s the gifted testing window.

Spring Identification Testing Window: February 27 – March 3, 2017
HCSD Camp Invention 2018
Hamilton City School will be hosting two Camp Invention Sessions at Highland Elementary School in June 2018. The first session takes place from June 4 – 14, and the second session will be held from June 18 – 28. Both sessions will run Monday – Thursday from 8:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. and bus transportation is available. The camp is FREE district service for identified gifted students and teacher/principal recommended high-performing students entering grades 4-6 for the 2017-2018 school year. Camp Invention Applications with Emergency Medical Cards will be accepted starting in January 2018 through May 1, 2018, or until both camps are full. Camper slots will be filled on a first come, first served basis, and all applications will be time stamped as they are received at the HCSD Board of Education. After School Enrichment
The after school enrichment program is designed to provide curriculum enrichment for gifted students in grades 5 and 6. The goal of the enrichment program is to provide academic extensions and opportunities to gifted children through hands-on learning, guided inquiry, and critical and creative thinking. This program provides a hands-on, technology based, inquiry –centered approach to topics such as geography, mapping skills, restaurant design, Rube Goldberg machine development, the science of roller coasters, invention development, and much, much more! The enrichment program is conducted one day a week beginning September 18, 2017 and will run through May 11, 2018. Questions regarding the program should be directed to the gifted coordinator.
