What Is The ACT?
The ACT is a national college admissions examination that consists of subject area tests in: English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science. The ACT Plus Writing includes the four subject area tests plus a 30-minute Writing Test. ACT results are accepted by all 4-year colleges and universities in the U.S.
How Do I Register to take the ACT?
All students register for the ACT online through the national website. Go To: www.actstudent.org
This website houses all information relating to the ACT test.
How Much Does It cost?
The ACT offers two different versions: ACT No Writing and ACT Plus Writing
ACT No Writing: $36.50
ACT Plus Writing: $52.50
Students who receive free or reduced lunch at their school are eligible for a fee waiver that will cover the cost of the ACT test. A student who is eligible can utilize 2 fee waivers during their high school career.
When do I take the ACT?
The ACT should be taken by the end of the Junior year. Students opt to take the test multiple times as increasing your ACT score will improve college admissions and scholarship opportunities.
The ACT is offered 6 times each academic year in September, October, December, February, April and June. It is important to check the ACT Test Date and the Registration Deadline as there is a late registration fee issued after the deadline which is not covered by the ACT fee waivers (if applicable).
How do I prepare for the ACT?
Students can pick up a practice test in the HHS Guidance Office.
HHS Students can also choose to take the ACT/SAT Prep course offered each semester at Hamilton High School as one of their classes. This must be selected during the scheduling process the previous school year.
