National History Day in Hamilton, Ohio
Each year, thousands of students participate in National History Day (NHD) in Ohio. To begin their historical investigations, students choose historical topics related to an annual NHD theme and conduct extensive primary and secondary research through libraries, archives, museums, oral history interviews, and historic sites. After analyzing and interpreting their sources and drawing conclusions about their topics, students present their work in original papers, websites, exhibits, performances, and documentaries at a district. These student projects are entered into competitions in the spring at local, state and national levels, where they are evaluated by professional historians and educators. On March 19, 2016, Hamilton High School will once again host students and their parents from across southwest Ohio for the Region 8 National History Day in Ohio Contest. Hamilton City School District students are encouraged to take part and compete for a spot at the statewide National History Day competition in Columbus on April 30, 2016, at Ohio Wesleyan University.
